Let’s talk about time. Do you have time to enjoy cigars? Because it took me forever to smoke this smoking tortilla. It was a crisp but sunny spring day here in Helsinki, Finland so I decided to try Plasencia Reserve Organic cigar from Nicaragua. It is made from certified organic tobacco farms and is one of the very few “organic” cigars out there. The founder Nestor Plasencia, Sr. was born into Cuban cigar scene around 1950’s but emigrated a few years later to Nicaragua. Cuban descent, factories both in Honduras and Nicaragua they produce today around 30 million cigars a year! So, their presence in the cigar scene is well known and respected. I enjoyed this cigar quite alot. After stuffing my face with a kilo of cheese and salami, I say I’m quite satisfied. Viva!

Can I start this post by complaining about the weather? It’s terrible! We’re only one and a half week away from 1st of May and it’s +2°C and raining buckets. I can’t get over it. I want sunshine. Anyways, I’m glad that I can sit back and fire up a delicious smoking tortilla and laugh at the weather. This time I tasted a standard petit corona from Quintero. Old school marca from Cuba but this bugger seemed to be machine-made and hand-finished. I’m not 100% sure since I’m not a superb jedi when it comes to cigars (yet) but it was very tightly rolled. It took more effort to keep it lit. Even so it was a very smooth smoke. It had some tasty black tea and mild liquorice flavors. All in all a very pleasant afternoon/apéritif cigar.
Drink: Sparkling rosé wine, dry

You wouldn’t believe the weather here in Helsinki. People keep saying it’s spring but it doesn’t look that way. It didn’t stop me to grab one smoking tortilla made by Romeo y Julieta. Great smoke with some intense tobacco flavours with hints of cinnamon and and black pepper. Nice and slow burn. There is a certain distinguished character to this particular cigar which I like. Never mind the weather, this made my evening.
Drink: Aged Pedro Ximénez sherry
